Coaching
What is Health Coaching?

Health coaching is a growing field, and it’s quickly increasing in popularity. With millions of people suffering from largely preventable lifestyle-related chronic diseases, (Integrative) Nutrition Health Coaches are well-placed to bring about lasting change in the lives of individuals worldwide and help spread the “ripple effect” of empowered health and wellness. Health Coaches are mentors, advocates and trainers who use a progressive judgment-free approach to help their clients. The support they provide the client with is both science- and experience-based; it’s a combination of state-of-the-art and traditional approaches geared towards each unique client. They also help to make the most of doctors visits, who for the most part, have such limited time with their patients that they cannot give more than just very general recommendations with regard to the health benefits of lifestyle and nutrition.  In addition to providing guidance and accountability for clients with their specific goals, Health Coaches also empower clients to select health-promoting behaviors that work for them. They raise awareness and offer support as clients move in their own ways toward an improved health they want for themselves. Health coaching hopefully leads to long-term behavior change, but only because Health Coaches guide clients towards doing meaningful work that forms a strong foundation.

Who am I looking for?

I am looking to guide highly motivated 35+ year-old-plus individuals who want to make a substantial shift to their lifestyle and improve their wellness & fitness and get back much of the lost vitality & energy of their best years, but do not know how to go about implementing the necessary changes without proper guidance, accountability & support.  My program is rooted in switching to a plant-based dietary pattern and having been at the forefront of state-of-the-art science for many years, I base my customized coaching program on the most up-to-date and strongest available scientific evidence for the specific changes that can make the biggest positive impact tailored to each individual’s conditions and goals.

What can you expect?

By working with me, you will be able to benefit from the wide-ranging health benefits derived from adopting a plant-predominant/exclusive nutrition and a healthier lifestyle including, but not limited to:

  1. Promoting healthy weight loss and a leaner body without a focus on counting calories.
  2. Lowering blood pressure.
  3. Lowering the risk and/or helping in the management of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
  4. Lowering LDL cholesterol.
  5. Often reducing medications.
  6. Improving the health in areas such as the gut microbiome, sexual function & inflammatory diseases.
  7. Maximizing (healthy) longevity & possibly slowing down signs of aging.
  8. Reducing the risk of depression & dementia.
  9. Lowering the risk of a few cancers (i.e. colon, breast, prostate…).
  10. Learning tools to manage stress more effectively.
  11. Having more energy/vitality in general.

Furthermore, we know that the food that is healthiest for humans is also healthiest for our planet. In fact, one of the most impactful actions one can take every day to combat climate change is to modify one’s food choices. But knowing what and how to do it is not always clear. That’s where my health coaching nutritional approach comes in. By focusing on guiding the client towards strategies to achieve a plant-predominant dietary pattern we are also making a small contribution to improving the health of our world at a time when this is more necessary than ever as climate change is quickly approaching irreversible levels.

Naturally, I do not focus only on diet with my clients since optimal wellness is clearly more than just what is on your plate! My 360º health coaching-customized program includes physical activity, stress management, self-care, mindset, social engagement/relationships and sleep since these have all been shown to work synergistically with nutrition in determining your health and well-being.

I want to help guide you to reach your lifestyle and nutrition goals so that effectively you have not only a great chance of adding years to your life but even more importantly life to your years as well.

Having had to deal with the powerlessness that comes from being faced with an incurable disease such as Alzheimer’s in our family, there are few things that bring me more fulfillment than guiding someone to a greater vitality  and a more vibrant health as well as to a lifestyle that could help prevent or at the very least greatly delay many incurable conditions.
